So today finds us at the end of another long wasted summer
A crashing halt to the supposedly endless spell we've been under
August is ending, you're losing your mind

The magic of summer is gone and replaced
with dread of the school year impending

This morning left us just a few degrees colder and one season older
The silence in us and the chill in the air make us realize it's over
You've gotten so old now, you look so run down
You'll leave when the season is turning
The night air is cold now, it's breaking my heart
The street lights are blinking on early

Now September's coming like a funeral procession
Parts of you were lost when you woke up for school this morning
